Partners

Pittsylvania County offers all training to interested citizens free of charge, but there are costs involved. Instructors must be reimbursed, and supplies for training must be acquired in order for this program to continue.

We gladly accept corporate and other donations of funds and supplies, to help offset Federal CERT grant shortfalls. If you are interested in contributing to a program that is sure to benefit Pittsylvania County, we encourage you to contact us.

NIMS Training

The NIMS Training Program defines the national NIMS training program as it relates to the NIMS components of Preparedness, Communications and Information Management, Resource Management, and Command and Management. It specifies NIC and stakeholder responsibilities and activities for developing, maintaining, and sustaining NIMS training. The NIMS Training Program outlines responsibilities and activities that are consistent with the National Training Program, as mandated by the Post-Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act of 2006. This program integrates with FEMA training offered through the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) and United States Fire Administration (USFA).


Introduction to Incident Command System, ICS-100

ICS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents ICS 200

ICS 200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS.

NIMS An Introduction IS-700

This course introduces and overviews the National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents.

National Response Framework, An Introduction IS-800

The course introduces participants to the concepts and principles of the National Response Framework.

At the end of this course, you will be able to describe:

  • The purpose of the National Response Framework.
  • The response doctrine established by the National Response Framework.
  • The roles and responsibilities of entities as specified in the National Response Framework.
  • The actions that support national response.
  • The response organizations used for multiagency coordination.
  • How planning relates to national preparedness.
