In years past we only thought about hurricanes in Pittsylvania County. Often, people thought that nothing would happen here. There are several emergencies that could affect our community. 

We have weather emergencies such as Hurricanes, tornadoes and severe thunderstorms not to mention flooding.

Transportation incidents may affect large populations, such as an aircraft crash or a train derailment.

Wildfires got everyone's attention in 2001.  We had fires in every part of our county.

There is always the fear of terrorist attack.  

As we have seen, things have been quite turbulent recently.  In today's day and age, communities need to be PREPARED, PREPARED for the unimaginable!

Saturday July 28 - Inaugural CERT Family Picnic & Volunteer Recognition day

Through a request from God's Pit Crew (a local disaster relief organization), many Pittsylvania County CERT Team members deploy to the Danville KMART on September 6, 2005 to assist in relief efforts for victims of hurricane Katrina disaster victims.
